“Ser, can I use the poweitrze? I think I’m running low on
energy.” asked Liion, a rookie who just hopped into the army last year. Here, all except Ger were freshly baked.
“Are you mad? We would need that more for the remaining distance to make out alive. We have just now entered the woods!
Still, we need to cross it and then the sea like river to make it to the lights, if you survive that long enough” told Ger in a furious tone.
“Beware of the traps. They could be anywhere as we’ve crossed
the line of city border!” he warned.
Without turning his ears towards Ger, a rookie with some name began complaining to his fellow.
“We’ve been on a run for at least an hour. There is no sign of someone coming for us. It is exhausting. I’ll take the poweitrze just once. Just pretend unnoticed.”
“If ser says something, it has to be sensible. Don’t do anything that could kill you!” said another.
“I’ll be dead if I didn’t do it now”
Saying this, he pressed the side of the armour where the decanter was fixed. A gush of air passed through the tube right into his nose via cannula. His pupils turned from black to green and the iris appeared like fire, striking towards the center from all sides.
He started running with the utmost speed passing Geraldo.
“Wait! You! There will be traps! Don’t……..”
Before the rookie could react to it, he stepped on a thin twine which in turn released three logs with an ultra-sharp point towards him from three sides.
“Don’t raise your hands!!” Ger shouted sprinting towards him. Time was done with the rookie soldier. He raised his hands in front of the log coming straight towards him. An instinctive act
was done after all. Not to be done by the devourers of poweitrze, anyway. Even before he raised his hands full, the front log came smashing through his skull. No sounds of agony. Instant freedom. The soldier kneeled with the log inserted right into his face and made out of it. The remaining two logs came now pointed towards the kneeled body. The blood sprinkled at the face of Ger and three other men who came running out of breath. “We attract woods with Poweitrze inside us,” said Ger staring at the body of Yenfurr in a desperate tone.
